Our 20th Season of Spring/Summer Hockey
CHC is entering its 20th season of spring/summer hockey. Last season was another successful one — the program won the Tier 3 championship and was a finalist against St. John's in the Tier 1 championship, while our fall team won the PHL U18 Elite championship. Over its history, CHC has won 21 summer league championships and 1 Walmart Cup tournament championship in Minnesota.
This season we're again targeting 4 high-school-aged teams, ages 13–18, at the start of the season.
Program Schedule
Program Starts
Fun, optional weekend scrimmages begin in March, followed by evaluations and practices starting in April on weekends, at either the RI Sports Center or Dennis Lynch Arena.
Practices
Each practice is at least 85 minutes, on Saturdays and Sundays, at the RI Sports Center (N. Smithfield, RI) or Dennis Lynch Arena (Pawtucket, RI) — about 42 hours of practice time per team with a detailed agenda. Some weekends may have one or no practices; families are notified in advance. A full schedule is provided once available.
Games
Games start in May on Mondays or Tuesdays after 5pm at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro, MA — 12 games plus playoffs. The league posts the schedule and standings on its website in late April.
Uniforms, Photography & Team Events
Uniforms
The program furnishes custom team hockey pants, socks, and game jerseys at no cost to players — these remain with the program. A team practice jersey is furnished for the player to keep.
Game Photography
Coach Maris photographs every game and some practices — roughly 40,000–50,000 photos a year — so players have great memories. As a perk for incoming players, he also tries to attend and photograph their high school games.
Team BBQs
Every year the program hosts team BBQs for players and their parents — steak, chicken, prime rib, or roasted leg of lamb — a great way to bring the whole program together.

Cost & How to Register
Season Cost
This season's cost is $1,650, divided into 5 equal payments of $330 starting January 15, with further payments on February 15, March 15, April 15, and May 15. A 5% sibling discount is available. A nonrefundable $330 deposit secures a spot in the program. Contact Coach Maris directly for current payment instructions.
New Players & Friend Invites
If your son hasn't played in the program before, or you'd like to invite a friend, let Coach Maris know his details — he'll try to attend a game or watch on LiveBarn to see how he can help.
Registration Process
Complete the registration form and waiver online — it generates a signed PDF you can email in — then make payment per the instructions provided. Be sure to include your son's name as the payment reference.
Communication & Closing Date
Every week, players and families receive an email on that week's upcoming activities, with a response requested to confirm availability. Once the program reaches its quota of players for the 4 teams, it will stop accepting applications.
